Dear SPH faculty, staff, postdocs and graduate students,

As we begin the spring semester, I am sharing an update regarding access to classroom and meeting spaces within 121 South Main Street. These updates will allow us to work more smoothly together and be in community with one another while continuing to provide a secure workplace. 

Since Dec. 13, all SPH faculty, staff, postdocs and graduate students have had card swipe access to their assigned work areas. We have now modified access for these members of our school to have card swipe access to the following SPH locations at 121 South Main Street:

• 2nd Floor: Room 251 and suite containing the student kitchen and the following classrooms: 245, 247, 241, and Ph.D. spaces: 242 and 243. 
• 3rd Floor: Main and side entry
• 4th Floor: Main entry 
• 6th Floor: Conference Room 636
• 7th Floor: Main and side entry
• 8th Floor: Main entry

As announced by email on January 13, the exterior doors to 121 South Main Street will be unlocked during the hours of 10:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. and available at other times via card swipe for SPH faculty, staff and graduate students. Everyone must show their Brown ID to the security guard at the front desk during the open hours. The 155 South Main Street exterior doors remain accessible via card swipe only. 

At this time, undergraduate students do not have card swipe access to these spaces. If you are meeting with an undergraduate student, please make arrangements with the student to coordinate access. We are working with the University on appropriate access for undergraduate students in the coming weeks. 

Please remember to always carry your Brown ID, as it is required to access elevators, Stairwell 2 and other card swipe access areas. If your work area requires key access, please ensure you have your keys with you as well. To enter the work areas of colleagues that require key entry, please make arrangements with the party you are meeting. Administrative staff will be at these locations to the extent possible to ease access.

We will continue to assess and modify access and security as we gather feedback and work collectively with the University processes.
